How to Check your Body Mass Index using BMI Chart?

  1. Firstly, find your weight on the top horizontal row in BMI Chart. There are two rows. The first one shows the weight in "lbs" or "pounds" and the second one shows the weight in "kg" or "kilograms".
  2. After that, find your height on the left verticle column. There are two height units. The first one is in feet and inches and the second one is in centimeters.
  3. Now find the joining point of height and weight in the chart. That's your BMI.
  4. The chart is categorized with five different colors and each color defines the different health category.
  5. Blue = Underweight (18.4 and below), Green = Healthy (18.5 - 24.9), Yellow = Overweight (25 - 29.9), Orange = Obese (30 - 39.9), and Red = Extremely Obese (40 or higher).

BMI Formula

The BMI is calculated using the following formulas:

BMI (US/UK Units) = 703 × weight(lb) / height2(in)

BMI (Metric Units) = weight(kg) / height2(m)
